7 Biggest Mistakes When Starting Magick
Posted by Full Moon on

Having Poorly Defined Goals
In the last blog we went over the importance of doing a separate casting for each want or desire because if you combine all your wants and needs into one singular casting the magick is extremely diminished in value and energies. This is a similar concept for your goals. You need to know exactly what you want from the results of your casting and exactly how you're going to get it.
Not Being Focused
For your magickal studies to really take off the way you want you need to be focused on one or two types of magicks. Have a strong focus on either Voodoo and Wicca but don't also add Blood Magic as it can be difficult to master more than two different forms of power. Once you have decided which type of magick you want to study be sure to stick with it. If you feel like it is overwhelming you can always get the help of someone who has perfected their own craft, such as Papa Crow.
Meditate
Some beginners don't want to put in the time that it takes to meditate but this will help you greatly become in tune with yourself and your abilities to create the outcomes you want with magick. It is understandable that this may seem like a waste of time but if you are new to this you may not realize that your mind is one of the most important aspects of any type of magick.
Expecting Too Much Too Soon
When beginning your journey of learning magick you must have patience. It'd like learning anything new. We all won't get it right from the start but with time and practice you will be able to manifest the results and desires you want. A lot of magick is not instant like in the media and it especially won't be instant for a novice.
Reading Spells Versus Memorization
You don't need to memorize every single line and action of a spell but you should know the basic principles of what is to be done. I usually like to read a new spellwork at least four or five times and practice the motions before actually doing the spell.
Being Negative
Imagine you were going to buy a car and you specifically wanted a black one. You would not Google "black car but not blue cars" as the search would definitely pull up some blue cars! It's the same with magick. You must stay focused on the positive outcomes you desire and do not keep thinking about what you DON'T want. This can cloud the outcome and ruin the spell work.
And Lastly Have Good Sources
When beginning your journey of learning magick you want good recources and help. Some don't feel confident at all and choose to have the help of others, like Papa, get them to their goals quicker. Others want to take a shot at it and learn for themselves. A great resource that I recommend is the Witch's Encyclopedia written by Papa Crow himself. I wanted to give my friends a great deal and give this powerful book away for FREE with any purchase on the site or the Full Moon eBay until Sunday, August 11th! Hundreds have purchased this valuable resource for $29.95 over the years. Better still everything on Full Moon Magick Shoppe and our Full Moon eBay Store is discounted 25% until Sunday.
